An Exuding of Grace In addition to being incredibly delicious, biscuits are also incredibly delicate.
INGREDIENTS
– about 1 cup all-purpose flour– 1 & 1/2 cups self-rising flour*– 1 tablespoon granulated sugar– 1/4 teaspoon salt– 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into 1/2-inch pieces**– 1/2 cup heavy cream– 3/4 cup buttermilk– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Preheat oven to 450°F. Grease an 8-inch circular cake pan. Place all-purpose flour on a plate or pie or cake pan. Set aside.
Step 1
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix sugar, salt, and self-rising flour in a bowl. Mix the chilled butter into the flour mixture with a pastry blender or fork. Mix until butter is pea-sized.
Step 2
Mix in cream. Mix in buttermilk. The mixture should resemble cottage cheese after mixing.
Step 3
Scoop dough into biscuit-sized portions using a big spoon or ice cream scoop. Drop the dough on all-purpose flour. Dust dough's outside with flour.
Step 4
Flour your hands and grab dough. Make a circle and shake off flour. Put dough in pan.
Step 5
Repeat with remaining dough. Press each cookie against another to rise and not spread. Bake 20 minutes until biscuits are lightly browned.
Step 6
Melt butter and brush on biscuits. Serve the biscuits after a few minutes of cooling.
