Crispy rice cereal, sticky marshmallows, and buttery richness make Rice Krispy Treats popular. A family favorite, this classic dessert is easy to make and personalize regardless of baking experience.


– 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal – 1 package (10 ounces) marshmallow – 3 tablespoons butter (plus extra for greasing) – Optional: add-ins such as chocolate chips, sprinkles, or chopped nuts for extra flair


Prep Work:- Start by buttering a 9x13 baking dish. This keeps sweets from sticking.

Step 1

Butter melts:-Let butter melt in a big saucepan on low. Avoid burning or browning.

Step 2

Add marshmallows:- Add the entire marshmallow box to the pot when the butter melts. Keep stirring until marshmallows are melted and smooth. This should take 3–4 minutes.

Step 3

Mix with Cereal:- After taking the skillet off the heat, immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal to coat it with the marshmallow mixture. Add chocolate chips or nuts now and gently fold them in.

Step 4

Put in Pan:- Place mixture in buttered baking dish. Press the mixture evenly into the pan with a buttery spatula or clean, lightly buttered hands. Compact it enough to keep its shape without making it dense.

Step 5

Cool and Cut:- Let Rice Krispy Treats cool at room temperature for 30 minutes. Cut them into squares or rectangles using a sharp knife after cooling.
