Sour cream in the dough gives sour cream cookies a delicious balance of sweetness and tanginess. With each bite, these cookies melt in your mouth like cake. 


– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened – 1 cup granulated sugar – 2 large egg – 1 cup sour cream – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 4 cups all-purpose flour – 1 teaspoon baking powder – 1/2 teaspoon baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon salt


Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare baking sheets with parchment or silicone mats. Mix melted butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until frothy.

Step 1

Beat each egg carefully after adding it. Add sour cream and vanilla extract and mix well. Sift all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another basin.

Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ones and stir until a smooth dough forms. Do not overmix. Place teaspoons of dough on prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.

Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes in the preheated oven until the edges are softly golden brown.

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before moving them to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Step 5

Serve these delicious sour cream cookies with milk or your favorite hot beverage after cooling. Leftover cookies can be frozen or stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3–4 days.
