Simple Mummy Stromboli Easiest Recipe Ever

A delightful Halloween pizza treat, this Mummy Stromboli makes a terrific meal or appetiser at any Halloween party.  


– 27.6 ounces 2 13.8 ounce cans refrigerated pizza dough – ¼ pound pepperoni – ¼ pound hard salami – ½ pound deli smoked ham – 9 provolone cheese slice – 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese – ½ cup sliced pepperoncini pepper – ⅓ cup grated parmesan – 2 tablespoons salted butter melted – ½ teaspoon garlic powder – ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning – ¼ teaspoon salt – ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes – Black food coloring – 2 eyeballs candy, googly, or toy – Marinara or pizza sauce for dipping


Heat the oven to 375°F. Parchment a baking sheet and set aside. Roll one pizza dough into a 14"x14" square on a clean surface. 

Step 1

Spraying your work surface with oil before laying out the dough may assist. Start with pepperoni, then hard salami, filling in any holes and finally ham on the dough.  

Step 2

Provolone, pepperoncini, and mozzarella should be layered over the meat. Sprinkle parmesan cheese over the layers, saving a tablespoon for later. 

Step 3

Roll the stromboli tightly into a log from the nearest end. Crimp all edges and seams. Place the stromboli seam-side down on the baking sheet. 

Step 4

Mix the remaining melted butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, red pepper flakes, and black food colouring in a small bowl. Brush the black butter mixture on the stromboli top and sides.  

Step 5

Sprinkle remaining parmesan over top. Cut 1” slices of pizza dough from the second roll using a knife or scissors. Long strips should span stromboli.  

Step 6

Make a mummy by crossing dough strips across stromboli. Space the strips at the top of the stromboli for eyes. Pre-heat the oven and bake the stromboli for 30 minutes. 

Step 7

Tent the stromboli top with aluminium foil if it browns quickly. Wait 10 minutes after baking, then add eyeballs to stromboli before serving. Use marinara or pizza sauce for dipping.
