Savory Mashed Sweet Potatoes Easiest Recipe Ever

Delicious, simple, and a fantastic side dish, these Savoury Mashed Sweet Potatoes go with any dinner. They're a tasty way to get carbohydrates!  


– 4 pounds sweet potatoe – 1 cup unsalted butter – 1 cup whole milk – ¼ cup sour cream – 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt – 1 teaspoon black pepper – ½ teaspoon garlic powder – ½ teaspoon onion powder – 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley – 1 tablespoon minced fresh chive – 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh thyme


Add about half of the cold water to a big stockpot. Peel the potatoes and cut them into medium-sized dice, making sure that each piece is about the same size.  

Step 1

Put the potatoes that have been cut into the cold water. Move the potatoes around in the water, and then pour out the water.  

Step 2

Return cold water to the pot and cover the potatoes with it. Cover the pot and put it on the stove over high heat. Bring to a boil, then cover and boil, stirring every now and then,

for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft. If you stick a fork into a potato, it won't fight. Put the milk and butter in a small dish while the potatoes are cooking.  

Step 4

It only needs to be cooked over low heat until the butter melts. Turn off the heat and set it aside.  

Step 5

Drain the potatoes well and leave them in the heated pot with the lid off for 5 minutes to release steam. Add butter and milk to the saucepan.  

Step 6

Smooth potatoes with a potato masher. Stir in sour cream. Add garlic, onion, salt, and pepper. Combine everything. Salt should be checked and adjusted.  

Step 7

When serving, add parsley, chives, and fresh thyme. It can be served immediately with extra butter and herbs.
