Monkey Bread Muffins Recipe

These kid-friendly monkey bread muffins are delicious and easy to make. These muffins are great year-round and make a great Christmas morning breakfast!

INGREDIENTS 

SERVINGS: 12 MUFFINS – 1 (16.3 oz.) can homestyle buttermilk biscuits (I used Pillsbury) – 3 tablespoons melted butter – 1 cup (200 grams) light or dark brown sugar – 1.5 - 2 teaspoons cinnamon GLAZE: – 1/2 cup (60 grams) confectioner's sugar – 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) milk

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Spray each 12-count muffin pan cavity with cooking spray and set aside.

Step 1

Brown sugar and cinnamon should be well mixed in a small bowl.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 

Step 2

Open the buttermilk biscuit can and cut each biscuit in half, then thirds. Each biscuit should yield 6 equal pieces. Make biscuit dough balls from each piece.

Step 3

Shake off excess butter and dip dough pieces in melted butter. Give each dough piece generous brown sugar and cinnamon.

Step 4

More brown sugar and cinnamon may be needed.Use four sugar-covered dough pieces per muffin cup. Evenly sprinkle remaining brown sugar and cinnamon on each.

Step 5

Remove from oven after 15–17 minutes. Remove from pan after 5 minutes. Mix sugar, vanilla, and milk while muffins cool. Glaze muffins evenly. Serve and enjoy!
