Lainey Wilson & Elle King Ring In New Year With Skynyrd

A great year ended well for Lainey Wilson. She sang with a legendary band after winning several awards and becoming a top female country star. New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash featured Lainey and Elle King and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Skynyrd is famous 1970s band. A 1977 plane crash killed some founders, but the band still tours and performs hits. Their most popular songs are “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird.” On New Year's Eve, the band played Nashville's Big Bash.

Lainey Wilson and Elle King sang “Sweet Home Alabama” at the event. The band recorded “Sweet Home Alabama” in 1974. Lainey Wilson was born 18 years after the song's release in 1992. Elle King was born 15 years after its release in 1989.

While singing with Skynyrd on New Year's Eve, both women were in full force. Wilson won nine ACM and CMA awards in 2023, while King is a four-time Grammy nominee in rock and country.

It was special for Lainey Wilson, Elle King, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Even though Lainey and Elle only sang a few lines in “Sweet Home Alabama,” they had big moments at the event. Elle hosted and Lainey sang her own songs.

Elle King sang Stevie Nicks' 1981 hit “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” With big songs, Lainey Wilson proved her country music talent. To celebrate New Year, she sang “Grease” and “Heart Like a Truck”. She sang “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” after a break.

Lainey Wilson defeated Ashley McBryde, Miranda Lambert, Carly Pearce, and Kelsea Ballerini to win the ACM and CMA Female Artist of the Year awards in 2023.

She's also nominated for two Grammys on February 4. She and Jelly Roll are nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Save Me.” Bell Bottom Country earned her a Best Country Album nomination.
