Bacon Black Eyed Peas are a wonderful side. They complement all your favourite dinners with few ingredients and effort.
Ingredient
– 12 ounces thick-cut bacon 1/2 inch dice– 1 small sweet onion small diced– 3 cloves garlic minced– 2 teaspoons seasoned salt– 1 teaspoon garlic powder– 1 teaspoon onion powder– 1 teaspoon dried thyme– 1 teaspoon black pepper– ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper– 1 pound dried black-eyed peas soaked overnight and drained– 4 cups unsalted chicken stock– 2 dried bay leave– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter– Fresh chopped parsley for garnish optional
Introduction
Fry the bacon in a Dutch oven over medium heat for fifteen to twenty minutes, turning it occasionally, until it reaches a crispy consistency.
Step 1
The bacon should be removed from the pot, and the drippings from the bacon should be saved.
Step 2
The cooked bacon should be placed on a dish lined with paper towels so that it may drain. After adding the onion to the pot, continue to cook it for around ten minutes,

tossing it occasionally, until it becomes translucent and soft. When the garlic is aromatic, add it and continue to simmer for thirty seconds.
Step 4
The following ingredients should be added to the pot: seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, pepper, and cayenne. After stirring it in, continue cooking for another thirty seconds.
Step 5
Stir the pot after adding peas, chicken stock, and bay leaves. After boiling, reduce heat to a simmer and cook covered for 60–90 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 6
When tender, peas are ready to eat. Taste and adjust seasoning after adding butter and stirring as it melts. Top with crispy bacon and fresh parsley to serve.
